"Love for Life" takes place in several "virgin" streets of a sleepy, remote town. One of those places that appear from time to time in literature, and give us the feeling that we have "already been there," that we are returning to a familiar space, to events that happened long ago, in our youth. This time, Sergio Biscio creates for us three classic heroes of a coming-of-age novella. Bruno, Lisa, and Lello are familiar to us like a dream, real but equally deceptive. The plot of the novella reminds us of what an exciting and compelling combination is youthful love, and youth in general: a combination of innocence and lust, intense thrills and overwhelming boredom, compassionate honesty and vile lies, the kind that we try to dissuade from forever. It is impossible not to follow the characters and it is difficult to say goodbye to them. Because literature here completes one of its beautiful moves: inventing life. The book is completed by an initiation story called "Cynicism" (which was adapted for film and won the Grand Critics' Prize at the Cannes Film Festival): it will only round out, tighten and confirm what we already thought in the five previous books by Iserhieu Bissieu that were translated into Hebrew: before us is one of the most brilliant contemporary writers and sensitive to the vitality of dialogue, to the internal "tempo" of the story. In the two works that we are honored to publish, there is not a superfluous word; every punctuation mark is in its place, and the entire experience is a plastic, visual and artistic performance, from which we will only want more and more.
