"The Illiterate" consists of eleven lucid moments, brushstrokes, in the life of one character. At the beginning of the text, a girl emerges. Her life is happy. She devours books and words, and these become the scaffolding on which she flourishes. War, poverty, hardship, immigration, abandonment of her native language and forced adoption of a new language do not break her spirit. On the contrary, the girl becomes a girl and a woman who finds sparks in words that light her path and make her a writer. This book was published in France in 2004 and immediately became the literary event of the year. It was the same in Germany, Italy and Spain. This is a gift for every lover of literature, a lover of people. The story is accompanied by oil paintings on paper by Boaz Noy, which were specially painted while reading the book.
