Gideon Shtossel's prose is not ordinary. It is a literature of adventures that brings us closer to the unknown. Writing without a body, but full of bones, joints and meanings. All of this is not collected in chapters or fat paragraphs, but surprises us and changes at the level of the sentence and the word. Characters march in all directions, countless plots and stories jump around, irony celebrates; linguistic paradoxes are created, imaginative games; the magical capacity of fiction is utilized to the fullest. This is pre-rhetorical writing. Time passes differently in it - too quickly or too slowly: years pass in a single sentence, and a single minute can linger without notice. Even the usual rules of punctuation do not apply to this storyteller, who is rich in his restraint and playful in his seriousness towards the Sisyphean task he undertakes. In the scenes you will find an endless supply of inventions: dogs with personalities to choose from, impossible workshops for cultivating the soul, puzzling conversations that can only exist in literature, a multitude of alternative types of reality, nameless syndromes, loves the likes of which we have never seen and word combinations we have never heard before. The author's creative freedom flourishes, blossoms, breathes dynamism: the literature is formulated according to "osteopathic" literary structures, and composes new anthropomorphic bodies. In other words: Welcome to the good bits!
